Hey loves!!!! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!!! Mine was pretty fun, it included a seminar that I attended on Friday (but I will tell you more about that on my next post) as well as a race!!!!
Last year I started my racing journey with Coogan’s and fell in love instantly with it and knew that I wanted to do it every year. As you all know, I am trying to Qualify to run the 2012 Marathon and I have to complete 9 Qualifying races in 2011 to guarantee myself a spot and wouldn’t you know that Coogan’s is one of them WIN WIN!
I have to be honest though, I was sort of dreading the race because I have not been training as much I should be during the winter and I tried to get back into it a couple of weeks ago and I could barely hit 3 miles…
I woke up ayer and it was cloudy and thought the rain was going to hold off until after the race, boy was I wrong. When I got into the city, the rain was coming down hard and I tried my best to keep my spirits high; it helped that Nik was there to cheer me on.
I made my way to the Pink Corral and waited patiently for the horn to be blown…once I heard it, I went on my way….
It started off pretty good but then the hills welcomed me back and they were not kind about it, I had to take a few walking breaks and I was also dodging people along the way. I witnessed a couple of people slipping and falling on the slick streets and I prayed to God that he would let me pass the finish line uninjured (and he did).
Like I said earlier, I have not been training as hard as I should be and I was not trying to break any PR’s but I did!!!
Here are my splits:
1: 10:04
2: 9:49
3: 9:56
4: 9:11
Last year I finished the race in 33:06 and this year I did it in 31:28 and according to my Garmin the distance was 3:18! I am really happy with these number!
I can’t wait for my next race!!!!!
Namaste….
